Position Description

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Physician Assistant Studies Program located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking an individual interested in joining a fast-paced, highly motivated, energetic, and passionate team as a member of the Principal Faculty. This academic position is a 12-month faculty (non-tenure), 1.0 FTE position in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. As an integral member of the faculty, this position has a unique opportunity to be part of a new program with the support of the Program Director, University of Nevada, Reno of School of Medicine, and engaged community partners. The preferred candidate has knowledge of accreditation (ARC-PA) standards, a background in education including creative and innovative interprofessional content delivery, data-informed student assessment with curricular analysis to drive continuous improvement. The preferred candidate ideally has experience in physician assistant education, clinical practice experience, the ability to work independently and in coordination with other faculty and community partners. The Principal Faculty will participate in reviewing, and revising the programs mission statement, goals, and competencies in collaboration with other faculty members. The Principal Faculty member must support the programs mission and adhere to the required ARC-PA accreditation process through its defined standards.

Required Qualifications:
- NCCPA certified Physician Assistant, eligible for licensure in Nevada.
- A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Minimum of three years of clinical practice experience (>5 strongly preferred) as a Physician Assistant.
- Possess a Masters degree or higher from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate students to achieve goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a PA faculty role for an accredited PA program is highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially in a multi-disciplinary setting, working with various constituents including students, scholars and professionals across the healthcare fields.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, teaching, and administration of medical education programs with a commitment to excellence and innovation.
- Dynamic interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and flexibility in responding to changing demands.
- Advanced capability using technology and at a minimum: PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Willingness to accept the challenge of developing new initiatives.
