AAPA House of Delegates Alternate Delegates

Posted 10 days ago

Dear NAPA Members,

As we approach the upcoming AAPA Conference in Denver, CO this May, we would like to extend an opportunity for those attending to deepen their involvement in our profession and representation at the national level.

NAPA is currently seeking up to five alternate delegates for the AAPA House of Delegates (HOD). Alternate delegates should be available to step in and serve as backups to elected delegates and may be called upon if a delegate is unable to attend a session or participate in voting. This is a valuable opportunity to observe the HOD in action, engage in policy discussions, and gain a deeper understanding of the issues shaping our profession nationally.

What is the House of Delegates?
The AAPA House of Delegates is the Academy’s official policy-making body. It sets the professional direction of the PA field by debating and voting on resolutions that impact clinical practice, education, and advocacy. Each state chapter, specialty organization, and caucus elects delegates to represent their membership in the House.

Eligibility to Serve

To be considered for an alternate delegate role, you must be a fellow member of AAPA (not a student member). Delegates and alternates representing NAPA must be elected or approved by the Chapter and be available to serve in-person during HOD sessions at the conference, should the need arise. No prior HOD experience is required.

All delegates and alternate delegates must be credentialed by April 30, 2025.

Serving as an alternate delegate is also an excellent first step for those interested in becoming more engaged in professional advocacy and leadership within the PA community. It offers first-hand exposure to the policy-making process and the opportunity to network with leaders from across the country.

If you are planning to attend the AAPA Conference and are interested in serving in this capacity, we encourage you to reply to this email or reach out directly to Alyssa Nishihira, PA-C for more information.  Her contact information is alyssakpa@gmail.com
