Dear NAPA Members,
I am honored to inform you of an important update to our organization's identity. The Nevada Academy of Physician Assistants has officially changed its name to The Nevada Academy of Physician Associates.
This name change reflects the national transition announced by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to adopt "Physician Associate" as the official title for our profession. While our name has changed, our mission, values, and commitment to serving Nevada's PAs and the patients we care for remain steadfast.
What This Means for You:
• Your credentials and clinical practice remain unchanged – you will continue to practice as a PA with the same scope of practice and responsibilities.
• State and employment titles remain unchanged – your state licensure, employment contracts, job titles, and professional standing remain unchanged.
• Our organization's mission and advocacy efforts continue – we remain dedicated to supporting Nevada's PA community and advancing our profession
The shift from "Assistant" to "Associate" better represents the collaborative nature of our work with physicians and other members within healthcare. This change aims to reduce confusion among patients and other healthcare professionals about the PA role and scope of practice. We understand that change takes time, and we appreciate your patience as we update our materials, website, and communications to reflect our new name. We encourage you to help us spread the word about this important transition within your practice settings and communities.
If you have any questions or concerns about this name change, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for your continued membership and dedication to the PA profession in Nevada.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Nishihira, PA-C
President, Nevada Academy of Physician Associates
The Nevada Academy of Physician Associates is dedicated to the advancement of its members and the PA profession through academy support, education, public awareness, and legislative action.
